HR 669 – The Sudden Death Data Enhancement and Awareness Act heads to the President to become law (hopefully)

Posted on December 12, 2014

U.S. CapitolOne of the federal bills bereaved parents have been supporting for years is on President Obama’s desk. The bill passed the U.S. Senate on December 9th and passed the House in September.

President Obama sponsored similar legislation when he was a U.S. Senator so outcome looking good. This bill begins the formal process to creating a set protocol for data collection for stillbirth deaths, SUDC and SUID. If passed, the CDC in conjunction with the NIH, will begin to implement the policies and procedures.

We’d like to thank all bereaved parents for their continued grassroots efforts in pushing this legislation to this point. The President has to the end of the year to sign the bill into law.
